Danube is Rising...

Hey folks, work has been very time consuming and busy so very little going on in the blog. So, Prague was short and sweet. Less than 24 hours, but I got a glimpse of the Charles Bridge and the castle on the otherside of the Danube. I now I can say I have seen three cities along the Danube (Passau, Germany; Prague, CZ, and BP, HU). It was raining in Prague and our taxi driver tried to explain to us in Czech (and neither of us speak Czech) that the water was rising. We could see it with our own eyes and prayed that we would just make it to the airport for our flight back to BP. Prague is similar to BP, but the architecture reminded me more of Heidelberg, also historic city on a river.

The Duna (Danube) is rising. Is has been rising since Friday.The lowest road along the Duna was flooded. Trams are not able to run and the Margeret Island, in the middle of the Danube is becoming flooded. This is not good as they are in the midst of construction of a olympic pool to host Summer Swimming Olympics, or some similar competition. Other events of the past weekend: elections are coming up and campaigning is turning ugly. And I thought the US was bad.

On a funny note: On Sunday I went to a café and ordered what I thought was tea -“tej”. “Tej” as it turned out (and which I should have known since I have a container at home with the name on it!) was milk. So I ended up having a nice cup of steamed milk with my slice of Chestnut Crème Cake.

I went to the Opera last nite and saw "Madame Butterfly". The Opera House is an amazing piece of work--wish I had brought my camera. If you visit, you will have to see for yourself!! They even serve champagne and cake. Very elegant!
